Dell Latitude E6430 laptop Review

The Dell Latitude E6430 laptop review has an excellent 14-inch laptop that generally combines a fast CPU and SSD within a sturdy metal body.

Dell’s Latitude is a brand of productivity-oriented laptops that has long been popular among business users because of its tough mix of performance and durability, as well as a dash of elegance.

The Dell Latitude E6430, on the other hand, maintains this long legacy by delivering excellent performance. Check Price

It sports a stylish, long-lasting metal frame and a battery life of more than 10 hours.

The Dell Latitude E6430 incorporates a pointing stick, similar to Lenovo’s ThinkPad range of laptops.

Because the pointer is flat, using it for lengthy periods of time may be challenging. After some time, users will get used to it.

As a result, a second set of mouse click buttons has been added. There are also separate volume up, down, and mute buttons, making controlling the notebook’s speakers a breeze.

You don’t have to keep peering down at the notebook since status indicators are generally directly over the keyboard. There are also indicators on the notebook’s lid.

The DVD drive features a few spring-loaded clips that may be used to remove the drive. In seconds, you may replace it with any other optical drive. External storage is provided through an ExpressCard port and an eSATA connector.

Design & Quality

With a metal grey aluminium top, matte chrome body, and angular edges, the Dell Latitude E6430 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Dell Latitude E6420.

In a world of standard black-and-grey business notebooks, the E6430 stands out with a striking design that reminds us of a sci-fi spacecraft.

The E6430, like the rest of Dell’s current Latitude E6400 series, is engineered to last with a “Tri-Metal” architecture that includes a magnesium alloy frame, sturdier steel hinges, a matte chrome bumper, a protected LCD seal, and a spill-resistant keyboard.

While being MIL-STD, 810G certified, the laptop should be able to withstand extreme temperatures, dust, and vibrations better than most other laptops.

Display:

Things are very excellent when it comes to viewing movies and listening to music. The screen offers good colours and a matte surface, which means there aren’t many reflections.

The viewing angles aren’t ideal, and when seen from the sides, as well as the top and bottom, the colours fade.

The speakers on the laptop are positioned beneath the keyboard, facing you. The speakers are highly detailed, despite their lack of volume.

The 14-inch matte 1600 x 900 screen produced bright, crisp pictures with good viewing angles, while the colours were a little subdued at times.

The screen of the Latitude E6430 is brighter than the thin-and-light laptop average of 203 lux, registering 237 lux on our light metre.

When we looked at the T430, it had a display resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and a brightness of 147 lux.

Processor:

The Dell Latitude E6430, on the other hand, is equipped with a 2.9-GHz Intel Core i7-3520M CPU, 6GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD, providing greater speed for practically every work, from crunching huge spreadsheets to transcoding video.

The E6430 scored 4,998 on PCMark 07, a synthetic test that assesses overall system performance, over twice as high as the 2,555 thin-and-light laptop category average.

Although the 128GB SSD in the Latitude E6430 booted Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) in 46 seconds, it was only 6 seconds quicker than the category average.

The drive, on the other hand, completed the LAPTOP File Transfer test in under 30 seconds, which required copying 4.97GB of mixed media files.

That works out to 169.6 megabits per second, which is five times faster than the category average.

A 5-minute HD video was converted to iPod Touch format in 15 seconds on the Latitude E6430, which is four times quicker than the 1-minute category average.

The processor also aids the E6430 in completing the LAPTOP Spreadsheet Macro Test, which involves matching 20,000 names to their addresses.

Graphic Performance:

Inbuilt graphics on the Dell Latitude E6430 laptop were Intel HD 4000. It is not, however, a game machine.

E6430 scored a good 717 in 3DMark11, a synthetic test that normally gauges overall graphics capability, only a touch below the 755 category average.

Dell Latitude E6430, on the other hand, provided an acceptable frame rate of about 53 fps while we played “World of Warcraft” at normal settings.

With the fancy effects cranked up, don’t expect to be able to play the game; the frame rate would generally drop to 26 fps.

Touchpad:

Now approach the touchpad. It boasts a 3.2 x 1.75-inch touchpad that allows for precise desktop navigation as well as dependable multitouch gesture capabilities.

All of the pinch-to-zoom, rotate, and 3-finger flicks performed well. In most cases, the two separate buttons give just enough feedback.

In addition to the touchpad, the Latitude E6430 incorporates a pointing stick between the G and H buttons for navigation.

However, we prefer Lenovo’s TrackPoint sticks on ThinkPads, and Dell’s rubber nub is excessively low in comparison to the keys surrounding it, making it unpleasant to touch.

If Dell wants to keep offering pointing sticks with its business computers, it has to reconsider this inconvenient design.

Battery life

The Dell Latitude E6430, on the other hand, outlasted the thin-and-light notebook category average by more than 4 hours and 33 minutes.

With its 9-cell battery connected, the Lenovo ThinkPad T430 lasted around 13 hours and 25 minutes.
