Acer Predator XB241YU Review : A Beefy 1440p WQHD Resolution

Acer Predator XB241YU Review

Looking for Complete Acer Predator XB241YU review. Then you are right place

The new Acer Predator XB241YU is one of the amazing monitors. This is a new gaming monitor that is usually an addition to Acer’s Predator gaming hardware lineup, and it caters to plenty of gamers. This article will review this gaming monitor from Acer and see what it has to give.

The 24-inch screen size is good and attractive to different gamers, who do not prefer a larger 27-inch display due to the amount of extra desk real estate it takes.

The new Acer Predator XB241YU has come packed with a beefy 1440p WQHD resolution out of the box that is ready to connect to your gaming PC.

However, Acer looks like the other gaming monitor products in the Predator lineup, like the wide V-shaped stand, but there is a clear difference in the middle of the stand.

Moreover, the Acer Predator XB241YU features an amazing 144Hz refresh rate, and it usually supports  NVIDIA G-SYNC technology. With the G-SYNC characteristics allowed, the refresh price can get as high as 165Hz.

So if you have a G-SYNC agreeable GPU and connect it to this gaming monitor, you will be capable of achieving a 165Hz refresh rate.

Ultra Low Motion Blur is also maintained if you prefer to have zero motion blur whenever playing games, making things appear absolutely sharp externally ghosting or smearing effects.

Looking at the other specifications of the 23.8-inch Acer Predator XB241YU, we can see that it features a TN panel.  This results in a very good response time, one millisecond, but usually suffers from bad viewing angles and worse color quality than IPS and VA panels.

TN panels are quite good for fast-paced games, like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) and Battlefield 1. For other purposes, IPS and VA panels are favorable. The monitor comes in all shapes and sizes and focuses on general, business, or gaming use.

Our Acer Predator XB241YU review looks at a 24-inch WQHD resolution gaming monitor with a ZeroFrame design and NVIDIA G-Sync support.

Let’s review its quality features for you that will help you choose it for you. However, this product has some features that we will discuss in detail.

Design:

The first and most important part of a gaming monitor design. The Acer Predator XB241YU has a sleek design with sharp angles and also red accents. This 24 Acer monitor features the company’s ZeroFrame design, and it usually has a very thin bezel around the top and side edges of the monitor frame.

The bottom bezel on Acer is thicker, but it’s the only ¾ that still adds to the monitor’s sleek look. The Acer Predator logo is placed centered on the bottom bezel in silver with a red border.

The power and settings buttons are placed on the front of the right side of the monitor. The buttons permit you to select preset settings such as Action, Racing, Sports, Standard, ECO, Graphics, Movie, or user-specified, adjust brightness, sound volume, and toggle between HDMI and DisplayPort input.

The main menu button permits you to adjust many other settings, including the usual monitor color, brightness, contrast, and other settings, and save these to one of the three gaming presets.

You can also toggle DTS on or off, OverClock the refresh rate to 160 Hz if using Display connectivity, toggle aim point graphics for shooters, ULMB mode, and NVIDIA 3D LightBoost (if your computer supports it). All these settings let you set up your color and viewing preferences.

The monitor’s back is where you will find your central power switch, power plugin port, DisplayPort and HDMI ports, 3.5mm audio jack, a pair of USB ports, and a USB upstream port. A pair of stereo 2W speakers sit.

The monitor stand’s base is constructed out of metal and features the usual red Predator angled feet. The monitor itself can increase up 6″ in height, tilted up 35º and down 5º, and the base swivels left and right 30º in either direction.

With the height and angle adjustment, it is quite easy to set up the monitor with your desired viewing height. The Acer monitor also rotates 90º and can be used in portrait mode and the typical landscape mode.

Display:

The display itself is good and crisp, and as we have mentioned above, it is very easy to set the wanted color balance, saturation, and other settings you like. however the ZeroFrame design gives thin physical bezels, there is still a wider bezel on the screen itself.

When it is combined, though, you are still only getting a roughly almost ¼” bezel on the top and sides, so there is a slow screen coverage within the frame itself.

Whenever you are propped down on a place, the image is constant and clear, with its full 16.7 million color range conferring through. Images are energetic and have a remarkable level of intensity.

The display itself is a widescreen WQHD display, which is a resolution of 2560×1440; This is quite much the good a little of any monitor review.

Before we take on with the technical bits. ⁷it is Not nearly as great as an 8bit IPS panel, but it is quite decent as compared to one. The TN dropout isn’t noticeable at all at small angle changes.

A display rate of 165 Hertz. That is right, 165 Hz. Gone are the days where 60 Hz was the good you could hope for.  At 165 Hz, everything from playing games to spazzing out and dragging windows around your desktop is going to be very smooth.

The monitor usually works wonders, rather than with mid-range cards. If you happen to use an Nvidia card, things get so much better. The monitor is equipped with its own dedicated G-Sync module, which does exactly what you had to think it does.

Processor:

It depends on your setup to get up to a 160Hz refresh rate with the Acer Predator XB241YU. Whenever it is connected to using Display connectivity, the default refresh rate is the silky smooth 144Hz that most gamers love, eliminating the tearing and transitions that can go up from time to time.

Rather more, you can overclock it to 165Hz using the on-screen display menu. However, we couldn’t notice a real difference between 144Hz and 165Hz during testing, but such as anything, some gamers probably.

If your setup only utilizes HDMI, unluckily, you will be capped at a 60Hz refresh rate, so you will not be able to benefit from the extra refresh rate or some of the other NVIDIA features.

At any rate, the high refresh rate probably works as one would expect, especially in fast-paced action and racing games to provide a smoother gaming experience.

Speakers:

The Acer Predator XB241YU also has a good pair of 2W speakers. The speakers are installed on the back near the top and fire up.

Speakers are typically quite better whenever they face the user and integrated on the bottom of the monitor, but that would exactly detract from the slim look of the bezels.

However, the speakers give good volume and clarity; they lack any low or mid or high range balance and are void of any bass.

If you are purchasing a solid gaming monitor, speakers are likely on the lower end of consideration, if it’s a consideration at all.

Connectors:

The XB1 comes with both HDMI and Display connectivity options so that you can jam in your preferred cable and quite a lot of jump right in. It also supports multi-monitor setups, right out of the box, which is good if you are into that.

There are almost 4 USB ports to assist with holding your cables very neatly. And speaking of cables, the monitor has got a little gap in the frame, especially for your disobedient cables. Threading that mess via the little gap will assist hold things very neatly and hide them from view.

Price:

With an MSRP of $499, the Acer Predator XB241YU will set you back a little, but not as much as some other high-end monitors. If you have an NVIDIA video card and a DisplayPort, you will see some good value if you do plenty of gaming with the default and overclocked refresh rate features.
