Acer Chromebook Spin 15 Review

Acer Chromebook Spin 15 Review

Today we are going to do the Acer Chromebook spin 15 review in detail. Acer Chromebook for anyone who requires a big-screen 15-inch convertible 2 in 1.

Acer Chromebook usually comes with 8GB of RAM, which is best to understand, and the 64GB of storage means you will be ready to install plenty of Android Apps.

The Chromebook Spin 15 is a very big 360-degree convertible 2-in-1 that does not put a cut in your wallet. Can it shape out a place in the frequently upscale and diminutive Chromebook market?

There is a new wave of thin, light, and premium Chromebooks on the way that are elevating the platform beyond the budget space it has mostly occupied since Google first whipped up Chrome OS.

But that does not mean that notebook manufacturers are giving up on giving bigger and less-costly versions, and Acer’sAcer’s Chromebook Spin 15 is one of the powerful cases in point.

The Chromebook Spin 15 looks like a plastic notebook. Acer adorned the lid with a crosshatch pattern that does not fool us into thinking it’s an etched metal, and the dark silver color carries over to the keyboard deck and bottom of the framework.

Some chrome accents add a little panache, but overall this is a conservatively styled notebook that will not be winning any beauty contests.

The touchpad was accurate and large enough to support the usual Chrome OS multitouch gestures comfortably. This is a 2-in-1, so the display supports touch, and it worked as well as the normal touch display.

There is no active pen, although, which is disappointing on the one hand but then also again, on the other hand, this is a massive notebook to use in tablet mode unless it is simply sitting flat on a desk. Let’sLet’s have a look at its features in detail.

  1. Design
  2. Performance
  3. Memory-Storage
  4. Display
  5. Keyboard
  6. Speaker-sound quality
  7. Connectivity option

From the exterior design, the Acer Spin 15 looks like one of the best-looking Chromebooks. The textured aluminum lid helps this. It is good to see because it usually removes us from the days when Chromebooks looked a little cheap.

Although, it is a shame Acer did not continue with this internal. When you open the cover, you are presented with a plastic finish. This is not a big problem, but it does not look so elegant on the inside as the Asus C302. That being said, it is a hard Chromebook.

It weighs in at 2.1kg, which is not very off twice the Asus C302 that weighs in at 1.2kg. It would be unreasonable to compare it directly with the Asus C302 because you are getting a 15-inch display. It does, although, bring into question even its a truly portable Chromebook.

The other good quality is a powerful processor. The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 usually comes with an Intel Pentium N4200 quad-core processor. It got a processing speed of 1.1 GHz, but the multi-core burst makes Acer more capable of up to 2.4 GHz. Acer also begins with a 2MB cache.

You should not require too much from this processor. Acer can perform daily tasks such as internet browsing, video streaming and is fine at multitasking. It can additionally run Android apps without any problems. Although, you should not expect much more than that.

Such as most Chromebooks, the processor usually lets the device down. It would have been suitable to see an Intel i3 or i5 processor, but this would have impacted the cost.

Memory Storage:

The Acer Spin 15 lacs processing power; however, it makes up for memory. The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 usually comes with 8GB of RAM.

As some years ago, we would have said this is generally a waste of memory because the Chromebook 15 would never use it.

Although, now the Chromebook is capable of running Android Apps and Linux App support coming soon. It is really good to see 8GB of RAM on the Acer Spin 15 Chromebook.

On the other side, the Acer Spin 15 does not let us down whenever it comes to storage. The 64GB of storage available will be sufficient for many people. However, If you are purchasing a Chromebook to use Android Apps, you intend to install plenty of Apps. Then it would help if you were looking for a Chromebook with at least 64GB of storage.

Let’s talk about the Acer Chromebook display. The Acer Chromebook spin 15 is different from all other Chromebooks that have come before it. It is the first Chromebook convertible 2 in 1 that possesses a 15-inch display. This makes the Chromebook model for anyone needing a bigger display.

The Acer Chromebook screen resolution is 1920×1080 pixels, which means you become a true HD display and the IPS technology that makes viewing a pleasure. It is a little reflective in direct sunlight, but this has always been very difficult to combat.

The touch-screen if Acer Chromebook works perfectly, and you will have no problems using the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 in tablet mode.

The big size of the Acer Spin 15 means there was an adult in the room to give a well-spaced-out keyboard. This quality makes typing on the spin 15 a great experience.

You will have no trouble while touch typing an almost over 500p word essay on this Chromebook. The backlit keyboard also means that you will be able to order day or night at any time.

It is a great keyboard, but it does not give you the same feeling as the Asus C302 keyboard. Of course, it is well-spaced out, so typing is very easy and reliable, but it does not have a similar journey as the Asus C302 when pressing the keys.

Speaker-Sound quality:

Now talk about Acer spin sound quality and speaker. The sound you take from the Spin 15 is loud enough for anyone who wants to watch movies. This is assisted by speakers projecting the sound directly from either side of the keyboard—one of the benefits of a Chromebook of this size.

Although, as with all laptops. If you want to listen to good quality music, you should use the headphone jack or use a pair of Bluetooth headphones.

The only real critical thing about the sound is when you use the laptop as a tablet mode. Because the speakers have been invented to project sound whenever using it as a laptop.

When you practice the Spin 15 in tablet mode, the sound is projected out of the back, which has a large impact on the sound you get to hear.

The Acer Spin 15 comes with two USB Type-C port options which are good to see. The future is Type-C, so you should always see if a Chromebook has this if you intend to buy new peripherals to plug into your Chromebook.

  • A Lot of power
  • Extremely long battery life
  • Acer spin has an affordable price
  • Beautifully responsive touchscreen
  • 8GB of RAM.
  • Quite nice display
  • Plenty of wasted real estate
  • The Trackpad of Acer could be better
  • Second-rate speakers
  • Little heavy

Acer is the first convertible Chromebook to give a 15-inch display, which is good to see. Although many people need to use a 15-inch tablet, we cannot help but ask ourselves.

The display gives a crisp, clear image, and the keyboard is quite well spaced out. Making it a good Chromebook for anyone who requires to do plenty of typing, but the keyboard on the Asus C302 is much better.

If you are next to a Chromebook with a huge display and not considering taking it out and about with you. Then this probably is the Chromebook for you. The 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage performs it quite future proof.
